SEEKING 8-10 NATIVE FRENCH-SPEAKING STUDENTS, AND 8-10 STUDENTS WHO ARE NATIVE SPEAKERS OF A LANGUAGE OTHER THAN FRENCH, TO FORM A FRENCH-ENGLISH DUAL LANGUAGE CLASS IN WHICH ALL STUDENTS WILL BECOME BILINGUAL, BILITERATE AND BICULTURAL.
P.S. 84, The Lillian Weber School for the Arts, is a District 3 public school located on 92nd Street just off Central Park West, with students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5. In addition to our English monolingual classes, we have long offered a Spanish-English dual language program for Kindergarten through Grade 5, and will continue to do so.
In September 2008, we launched District 3's first ever French-English dual language program. We started with two classes: Kindergarten and 1st Grade. Eventually, we will have French-English classes in Kindergarten through Grade 5. Students in this dynamic program will graduate from P.S. 84 reading, writing and speaking in both languages.
To enter Kindergarten in September 2009, your child must turn 5 between January 1 and December 31, 2009.
To apply for the French-English dual language program, your child must first register at P.S. 84. Those families who do not live in the P.S. 84 catchment must apply for admission through the District 3 Kindergarten Lottery, which is open to families in Districts 3, 5, and 6.
